Location: Skytop Orchards

Finding Locations can be a really difficult thing for clients when planning a photography session, and for years i had been very careful of who i shared my list of locations with, but recently I came to realize that its not the location, its the photographer who makes the images different, and I have found some amazing locations in Western North Carolina  over the years and why not share that with people who are looking for locations in the area as well as other photographers.  On Fridays I will be choosing a location that I have shot sessions at and sharing a little bit about the location, images from sessions and tips and tricks about the location :) Check back each Friday for a new and exciting place to shoot.

Skytop Orchards - Flat Rock, NC

Skytop Orchards is by far one of my favorite fall locations to shoot at.  Not only are the mountain top views and apple orchards spectacular but there are so many activities for families to do before and after their session at the orchard.    If you are looking for an all in one spot for a family outing and great views and backdrops for your photos this may be the place for you .

Tips for Sessions at Fletcher Park :

* Allow plenty of time
*Bring Comfortable shoes to walk in ( and you can change before your poses).
There is quite a hill to climb for the best moutnin top views.
*Weekday or Early morning saturday sessions are best in the late fall due to the crowds
* Children may need to take a trip to the restroom before getting started, as the only restrooms here are porta-pottys.
* Bring Cash if you plan to buy apples, Pumpkins, or even pumpkin doughnuts and apple cider.... dont say i didnt warn you :) Even the smell is to die for :)

As I said before the mountain top views are spectacular  Especially on a cloudy day.
The tractor makes for a great backdrop for extended families and toddlers
Pick up an apple or two for neat detail shot

Skytop is a great location for families, couples and even maternities

Tuesday's Etsy Top 5...#1

I am so in love with Etsy! ... so i decided i would take 5 minutes each Tuesday morning and give you 5 of my favorite Etsy items of the week...

This weeks theme .... DIY Rustic Chic wedding :)

1. Wedding Tree guestbook
Loving this newest Guestbook craze.  Its a new take on the matted picture that everyone signs at the wedding.  This canvas printed in amazing quality is usually sized to 11x14 or 16x20 and makes for an awesome art piece in your home.  Every guest signs a leaf and the two birds represent the bride and groom.  The canvas can be done in the wedding colors, or in colors to match the decor of your home, and can be customized with the number of leaves, to match the number of guests you have.  Check out Wedding Tree Art to see more samples of these awesome guest"books"

2. Vintage Lace Invitation -
This beautiful invitation stopped me in my tracks this week.  I love the lace accents in the corners and the fonts are so elegant.  It could be used for a wedding, bridal shower, or even a garden tea birthday party.  The Shabby Chic look of the invitation falls right into the rustic chic trends that are so popular for weddings this year.  One of the things I absolutely love about Etsy is that customization is usually included, so there is no need to worry about having Photoshop or spending hours getting your template just right.  You give the vendor  your information and it is delivered to you ready to print.  Check out TrinitySt.Studio for more awesome invitations and announcements.'

3. Broach Bouquet-
One of the most unique trends in weddings this year is the broach bouquets.  Brides are swapping out their flowers for bouquets filled with glitz and glam.  Bouquets made from vintage broaches and artificial flowers can be found on etsy.  I just loved the use of pearls with the broaches and roses in this bouquet shaped like a Pommador ball.  This type of bouquet not only is stunning on your wedding day but it will last and become an heirloom pace unlike no many other types of bouquets.  Check out Perfect Jeweled Bouquets by Anna St.Clair for more Broach Bouqets.

4. Vintage Garter-
What a great way to include your something blue! These modern/vintage handmade garters are a must have for under your wedding dress.  Your garter should either add to the theme of your day or be a surprise for your hubby to be and represent something he is passionate about.  These garters also make for great heirloom peices to pack away for another wedding years down the road or even a something borrowed for a favorite bride.  Check out  Fallen Star Couture for all their beautiful vintage garters.

5. Ceremony Fans-
Your wedding is about creating a unique day that is all about the bride and groom.  What better way to do that than with a spin on the traditional programs.  Great for a summer or a fall wedding, these fans are multi-functional as fans and as programs.  Check out Paper and Lace Austin for more unique paper supplies for your wedding day
